How to get WPF (Windows File Protection) to recognize the SP2 CD? Ok heres whats going on: 1. I created a bootable slipstreamed XP SP2 CD. 2. Rebooted and formatted C:\. 3. Installed XP SP2 and everything going fine until I accidently del a needed windows file then Im prompted with this: ---------------------------- box 1-------------------------------- Files that are required for windows to run properly....etc Insert your Windows Professional Service Pack 2 CD now. ------------------------------------------------------------------- so I insert the CD I slipstreamed myself and click Retry button and lo and behold the dreaded msg: --------------------------- box 2 ------------------------------- The CD you provided is the wrong CD. Error 1223: The operation was canceled by the user. #W187 Install failed, attempting to restore original files. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ these files: WIN51 WIN51IP WIN51IP.SP2 are on the root of the CD. peeking at the WIN51IP.SP2 file with a hex editor I see: 0D0A and it matches the Idents found in the xpbootfiles.zip I'm out of ideas here, tryed reburning and putting different labels to no avail.
