paul3vanz
i've tried searching, but i'm not sure it's been answered...is it possible to install the windows update activex control and/or the updated software for the V5 page?basically i would like it so that after the silent install, when going to windows update, no prompts come up, just Express/Custom install options.it must be possible, but i can't find the registry entries.i found the file wuweb.cab and got it to install the INF that is in it no problems, but it doesn't make a difference.any ideas? Metzen
I asked this question on Microsoft's forums and here was the reply:Based on my knowledge, unfortunately, it seems impossible to manuallyinstall Windows Update V5. To update to V5, you need to access theWindows Update site, and it will detect the version of OS, and downloadand install the responding component. This behavior is by design, Your understanding is appreciated. If you need further help, just post back to let me know. Thanks and havea nice day! Thanks & RegardsAlan SunMicrosoft Online Partner SupportSo Microsoft says it's not possible, but they also say that you can't install Explorer in WinPE, so maybe if we keep cracking at it, we'll figure it out
