Cube623
When I try to get onto Windows Update (v5) it gets to the screen saying: "Checking for the latest version of the Windows Update software...Depending on your connection speed, this might take a minute. During this time, you may receive one or more security warnings. Review each security warning to ensure that the content is signed by Microsoft, and then click Install or Yes to install the software."And it doesn't do anything it just stops at that screen, no security warnings come up and nothing happens (i've left my computer at this stage for 3hrs and nothing has happened) which means i can't install any windows updates. I've tried Automatic Update but that doesn't do much either. I really want to get this sorted as i have recently reinstalled XP due to a hacker deleting NTLDR which means i have no windows updates installed at all, and also because i want to install SP2 as it sounds good,ThanksCube623. aresgodofwar
no, all that means is it is larger than what you would typically download from the update site. go ahead and download that one. should be about 266 MB.

argon007
Maybe you got the virus... because my friends of internet has seen this problem... so... he solved...1. Reinstall Windows XP (format)2. Install Windows XP SP23. Install Windows Update, don't try to change v4 to v5, or you will get virus...4. Install the software that you like.
