Drivers question

Recommended Posts

I'm installing my drivers using the new nlite. I have a asus p4p800 Deluxe, and here's the list of drivers i need to install:

1985WDM_3630.zip (audio)

inf5021003.zip (chipset)

046_3c940.zip (lan)

the lan has this autorun.inf:

[autorun]open=.\English\Demo32.exe /English.dbd

icon=.\3Com.ico

i'm guessing i need to run that rite? do i add /silent to make it silent?

the audio and chipset drivers dont have inf files, so can i just extract it, make an sfx and tell it to run the setup.exe? will that work the same?

No, the autorun.inf is just for CD-autorun. You can run the same program shown in the autorun - that is not going to install the drivers.

The easiest thing to do is to get the latest version of each of these drivers, and then they'll have INF files. Then just use the "OEMPnpDriversPath" method mentioned in the MSFN official unattended guide.

like i said, some don't have infs. if the sfx thing works, i'll just do that

here's wat it says for installing my lan driver:

1  Overview

EL2K_XP.sys is the NDIS5.1 32-bit Miniport driver for the

3Com 3C2000-T Adapter  .

This driver supports only Windows XP (x86).

This README file explains how to install the Miniport driver on a machine

running Windows XP (x86).

This EL2K_XP NDIS5.1 Miniport driver cannot be used with other

Windows versions than Windows XP (x86).

2  Required Files

To install the driver, the following files are required:

EL2K_XP.sys 3Com 3C2000-T Adapter

NDIS5.1 Miniport driver

el2000.inf installation setup script

i can find both files. should i just copy these 2 files into my drivers folder and use OEMPnpDriversPath? looks like that's all the files it needs. i'll upload el2000.inf if u want to take a look.

the prob with this is the if i were to use OEMPnpDriversPath, i'd have to make sure i install the chipset driver 1st. but there's no inf's for the chipset driver

EL2000x.inf

could i just take:

EL2K_XP.sys 3Com 3C2000-T Adapter

el2000.inf installation setup script

and put them in a sfx and then have it silently run el2000.inf? in the batch file, i can have it install the chipset driver 1st, then install this
