Synapse Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 been lookin on the net for about 2 weeks now and can't seem too find anything too change the default "save as" option for MS-Paint to JPEG insted of BMP. I do a lot of screenshot captures then send too friends and having too change it too Jpeg all the time is a real annoyance.... or.. does anyone know a program in which i can drag and drop a BMP or other format file into that will change it too JPEG?
CoffeeFiend Posted September 2, 2004 Posted September 2, 2004 There is no easy way to make paint do that, but there are tons of apps that can convert, and even some that capture and save as jpeg such as hypersnap dx. It might be worth looking into. I believe there is a trial version too.
prathapml Posted September 2, 2004 Posted September 2, 2004 Ha ha......I read this topic, and an idea sprang up - you can try it, no guarantees it will work:Is there an import/export DLL somewhere for the BMP format? Maybe if you delete that, paint will default to some other format.

CoffeeFiend Posted September 4, 2004 Posted September 4, 2004 Is there an import/export DLL somewhere for the BMP format?Nope. BMP is windows "native" format, and that's exactly why it only works with that (and many early windows app only worked with it). The other formats need extra code.
