I built a new PC, loaded Windows XP Pro and DOOM3. When I start a single

user game I see the loading bar,but when it reaches 100% the game exits

without giving any messages. I tried all video options from ultra to low (in

game system settings) and observed the same behavior.

My system config is:

Athlon XP2800

512M memory

250G ATA133 HD

ATI 9800Pro 128M

Lite-on 8x dual-layer DVD/40X CDROM

Sony GDM-F520 21" monitor

Any ideas :-( I'm a newbie to DOOM really wanna play!

reinstall the game, if that don't work: reinstall graphic drivers (latest catalyst 4.9 beta were released to solve problems with d3) and directx9c

Re-installing didn't help. I downloaded the latest nVidia drivers,

removed the ATI adaptor drivers, downloaded the latest drivers

from ATI and reinstalled.

Works properly now. All hardware was just purchased and the drivers

supplied were out of date.

Here are links to the drivers:

Download and install the latest drivers for your Nforce2 motherboard chipset from

http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp

Be sure to follow the below driver installation hints.

http://www.nvidia.com/object/driver_installation_hints.html

Download updated video drivers from the ATI website:

http://www.ati.com/support/driver.html

Go to Add/Remove Programs in the the Control Panel, and uninstall your

current ATI video drivers. Reboot your computer after uninstallation.

BEFORE attempting to install the updated drivers, obtain both of the

ATI Maintenance Utilities and run them. This will ensure that all traces

of previous ATI video drivers are removed.

http://www.ati.com/support/drivers/misc/catalystutils.html

After running the above utilities, reboot your computer. Install the updated video drivers once

your computer is finished rebooting.
