fbrandt Posted August 29, 2004 Posted August 29, 2004 My Friends,First of all, sorry about my English skills...I hope you understand me.In the Unattended XP Guide, creating an answer file, I use deployment tools in portuguese because it is my native language. After I fill in all the forms, I've notice that two files were created: unattended.txt and unattended.bat. I know what to do with the first, but what about the second one ?Another question, my winxp is a update home version (not full version, it is intended to "upgrade" old versions of windows like win98, win2000, etc. Is it possible to create an unattended instalation with it ?Regards,Fábio Brandt
mazin Posted August 29, 2004 Posted August 29, 2004 You rename unattended.txt to winnt.sif and delete unattended.bat! The second question? don't know!
big_gie Posted August 29, 2004 Posted August 29, 2004 The file you want is "unattended.txt"If you want your CD to be usable on another computer without using the answer file, put BOTH unattended.txt and unattended.bat on a floppy, and while the cd is booting, insert it in A:. XP setup will go on A:\ and search for those files. If you want your CD only for one computer, you can rename unattended.txt to winnt.sif and place it in <CD ROOT>\I386 (so you'll have <CD ROOT>\I386\winnt.sif)If you place your answer file in I386 folder, then you won't have the choice to use it.
