Serville
I'm using KT7 with Bios 4A, and have this funny boot behavior.I'm using Seagate Barracuda IV (boot drive) & IBM 22GXP. When I switch the harddisk position, IBM 22GXP as IDE-1 Master & Seagate (Primary DOS/boot drive) as IDE-2 Master , and ask Bios to boot from HD1 (second hd), XP will boot much faster. The animation bar will only make 1 pass before it goes to "Loading Personal Settings". However when I put the harddisk in the correct position, where bootdrive Seagate as IDE-1 Master (Bios to boot from HD0), and IBM 22GXP as as IDE-2 Master, the boot process will take longer. The animation bar will make 10 passes before going to "Loading Personal Settings". No matter what I do, it seems XP will boot much faster ONLY IF I put the Primary DOS partition/bootdrive in Seagate drive as IDE-2 Master secondary channel. I can not explain why this happens. Anyone has any idea ?

Serville
are they on the same controler/cable?? [/quote:42ebe9de4f]No. They are in different cable. One as master in primary channel, and another on secondary channel.
iheartsims
Weird. I think it might just be the controller or somethings damaged. Is the cable to the hard drive while its on primary channel damaged? inspect it very carefully. I had this problem, because my cable was damaged.
