It's just a guess, is this related to the TCP issue of 127.0.0.1 loopback that's being addressed in the MS patch

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...%5bLN%5d;884020

or is this something else?

Thanks, and as the new guy on the block, I'd just like to say thanks for the help all of you have given me getting my SP2 running correctly. I've lurked for couple of weeks and decided to join to give and get a little. Excellent posts with very helpfull information regarding the TCPIP.SYS file.

Welcome new guy on the block! :hello:

I'm not sure what you mean with "this" but M$ has posted their first SP2 fix. The one you point to in your post. You can't download it directly for M$, you'll have to give them a call. That hotfix indeed (is supposed to) fix problems people are experiencing with TCPIP connectivity AFTER they applied SP2.

I posted a "hacked" TCPIP.SYS which allows for unlimited concurrent connections, but is ONLY needed if you've applied this particular patch (884020). You can get the hacked TCPIP.SYS here.

Hope that helps a bit.
