SP2 and broadband connection

Featured Replies

I have been successfully using WinXP Pro SP2 RC1 and it has been marvelous. But, I have set up a new HD with Win XP Pro and downloaded/installed the final SP2 alas it stuffs up my broadband connection. It creates a second Wan Miniport (PPPOE) connection and the modem says it has a problem and tries to locate the IP address ..but I can still connect to the internet but it is obviously a mess. When I remove SP2 everything goes back to normal.

I guess the next step is to wait and see if the automatic download next week is more friendly.

If anyone has a suggestion as to what is happening etc I would love to hear.

see if you can get your hands on this here patch from Microsoft. You might have to call with customer support, as its not available for download through WU.
