Wasim Posted August 18, 2004 Posted August 18, 2004 Hey.I got a little problem regarding the computer name and the 'company' its registered to. When you install windows ( xp in my case), its asks for you name and the company. For this i typed 'XP USER', for both. What i want to do now is change the 'XP USER' to my name and 'Workstation 1' as the company.I would prefer a registery tweak however third party apps i am happy to install to change it.Thanks in advance people! enuffsaid Posted August 18, 2004 Posted August 18, 2004 Try here:Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion]"RegisteredOrganization"="My Name""RegisteredOwner"="My Company"
Wasim Posted August 18, 2004 Author Posted August 18, 2004 thanks...i knew someone would help out.Much appreciated mate
Wasim Posted August 18, 2004 Author Posted August 18, 2004 lol i installed this windows a month or two back as a test but ended up keeping it installed as it is. Since i wanted to keep this install i wanted to edit the details without reinstalling.
enuffsaid Posted August 18, 2004 Posted August 18, 2004 When people ask me to reinstall Windows for them, I sigh and look really depressed. Once they're out the door, I pop out my Unattended CD.Once its finished I open the registry and change those values for that person. Voila! Then I charge him 20 bucks! AHAHAHAH!
