eggy524 Posted August 18, 2004 Posted August 18, 2004 I slipstreamed xp Pro Corporate with Service Pack 2 but now when I Try and install the Sliptreamed cd it comes up with a window asking for my CD key. When I enter it in it says its invalid. What can I do?? - this has never happened before
Wasim Posted August 18, 2004 Posted August 18, 2004 isnt win xp professional only available from shops whereas corp is available for companies?
oioldman Posted August 18, 2004 Posted August 18, 2004 Can you manually install SP2 over an installed system? If this fails then you know it is an invalid verison of XP in eyes of M$ and i would have to agree with comment by Wasim, XP is either retail or OEM from a shop not a corporate verison.
prathapml Posted August 18, 2004 Posted August 18, 2004 The CD you have got is not exactly a legit one - the shop has given you a pirated CD. Use only licensed versions of software, to prevent problems like this.Or, ask the shop to give you a new SP2-compatible key.
turbomcp Posted August 18, 2004 Posted August 18, 2004 just for the recordif people here dont know thiseven Dell/HP.... had their numbers blacklistedcomputers bought from dell for example(came preinstalled with xp(no sp),with dell license and customizations) were blacklisted for sp1(ofcourse same thing in sp2)so be advisedeven if you buy from vendors that are known could be your are blacklisted
gabriel_buc Posted August 18, 2004 Posted August 18, 2004 Check if your PID is on M$ SP2 blacklist:SP2 blacklistIf it is go to the shop where you bought your WinXP and tell them
Doggie Posted August 18, 2004 Posted August 18, 2004 yes agree, and ask for your money back in that case
eggy524 Posted August 18, 2004 Author Posted August 18, 2004 OK, thanks everyone, sorry - I was wrong about the corporate thing, its just XP professional. I'm going to give it back to the shop for a replacement. This should work!! Thanks for all your help.
Wasim Posted August 18, 2004 Posted August 18, 2004 yeah no probs, xp pro and xp corp are identical apart from corp does NOT require activation whereas the other does.
