strogian Posted August 16, 2004 Posted August 16, 2004 If you prefer to manually choose a partition during text-mode setup with full control on choice of filesystem, then make sure you have these lines set as they are under the [Data]and [unattended] sections in winnt.sif:[Data]AutoPartition=0[unattended]FileSystem=*I'm curious - why does he suggest the FileSystem=* option? I don't see any documentation for that particular value in the ref.chm help file. Here's what ref.chm says: (shortened)Value: ConvertNTFS | LeaveAloneSpecifies whether the primary partition is converted to NTFS or is left alone. This entry is provided for backward compatibility. Now I'm sure it doesn't hurt anything, but what does it really do?
benners Posted August 16, 2004 Posted August 16, 2004 I think I read on this site that FileSystem=* is the same as FileSystem = LeaveAlone
jcarle Posted August 16, 2004 Posted August 16, 2004 Your best bet is if you don't want windows to decide your partitions for you, simply EXCLUDE FileSystem all together. That will FORCE windows to ASK you for a value during setup. Though be sure to add "AutoPartition=0" for the peace of mind, knowing that you specifically told setup to NOT mess with your disk bits.
