Denney Posted August 16, 2004 Posted August 16, 2004 Here's one for ya's... I'm trying to install Sun's Java.I call the setup program with the following command:JAVA.EXE /L1033 /s /v "/qb IEXPLORER=1 INSTALLDIR=%systemroot%\java REBOOT=Suppress JAVAUPDATE=0 WEBSTARTICON=0"When it installs from RunOnceEx, I get the following error box message:Java Installer Connection ErrorThe installer cannot proceed with the current Internet Connection proxy settings. Please check the Installation Notes for more information.I'm installing this in VMWare and it doesn't have an internet connection so I don't quite understand why I'm getting this error.Any ideas anyone?
SiMoNsAyS Posted August 16, 2004 Posted August 16, 2004 why don't you download the full sun java pack from hereand for me it works with "SunJava.exe /s" switch
Denney Posted August 16, 2004 Author Posted August 16, 2004 Because I don't want to install all the extra stuff. I just want the Java core and 1mb on my CD is a lot better than 15mb.
Joe User 99 Posted August 16, 2004 Posted August 16, 2004 Are you using the "Offline Installer"?Because the offline installer is like 14 or 15mb, not 1.The Install from the Web version is 1mb.
Bâshrat the Sneaky Posted August 16, 2004 Posted August 16, 2004 It's quite simple: it has to make connection to the internet to download the other 13 MB. When it can't, it gives this error. So you'd better add the FULL installer
Denney Posted August 16, 2004 Author Posted August 16, 2004 LOL... I didn't think it looked right... I should learn to look more carefully and not just click any old download link.Thankyou for putting me back in my place people.
prathapml Posted August 16, 2004 Posted August 16, 2004 Just a suggestion - when you get the FULL installer (15 MB or so..), make an administrative install point of it.Run the installer exe with the "/A" switch, (for an administrative install) and the resulting files will be a lot bigger, but make an SFX of it - 15 MB installer ends up being 7.8 MB (with winrar, didn't try 7zip).

prathapml Posted August 16, 2004 Posted August 16, 2004 Since an admin-install point has the advantage of files already being placed in the right directory structures (extracted from the single setup.exe), installs happen a bit faster as well.......
Bâshrat the Sneaky Posted August 18, 2004 Posted August 18, 2004 Hmmm... When I'll have some spare time, I'll repack it like Prathapml said and I'll upload it, if anyone would like it?
Bâshrat the Sneaky Posted August 18, 2004 Posted August 18, 2004 if you can compress it down from 9,14mb, ME! LOL, maybe B) 7zip non-SFX Ultra compression, 2nd highest setting for word size, highest for dictionary works on my pc I'll see
Denney Posted August 19, 2004 Author Posted August 19, 2004 If you do make it, I'll be interested in downloading it. Couldn't be bothered doing it myself.
