For those who know a lot about Remote Desktop

I just want to know how stuff is transmitted.

For example, if you enable "Bring audio to this computer", how fast is the rate of the audio being transmitted? And when openning a program, which parts of the GUI are transferred as bitmaps, and which parts are transferred by text or otherwise?

The reason I'm asking is that Remote Desktop is surprisingly fast in virtually everything. Of course it depends on how fast the upstream of the computer you're controlling.

The other thing is, can I control how fast things are transferred? I mean I need more options than just those under the Experience tab (this tab is very straightforward and doesn't give much power to the end-user).

Give me as much information as you can. Anything will help.

Thanks a lot, everyone.

By the way, this is my first post here, so, "Hello, all!"

From my experience, opening any program through Remote Desktop will look exactly as it would if opened normally on the remote machine. The only thing I've seen that changes appearance is the resolution of the screen, witch is automatically set to the resolution of the machine you are physically sitting at.

I'm not sure about the exact speeds of transferring audio (of course it would also depned on your type of connection), but the sounds correspond as exactly as I can tell to what I'm seeing on the screen. For situations where the bandwidth is smaller than the audio rate of the audio, and/or situations where audio is being played while large files are being transferred, I'm not 100% sure. My Remote Desktop set-up is not at the moment, but I'm sure someone else can help you out with that.

I have yet to use transfer audio on remote desktop. I however have a idea for your bandwith question. Try running bandwith monitor to see how much gets used while running remote desktop.
