Maybe Windows XP SP2 final version will solve your problem.

Firewire is "crippled" in SP2 pre-release builds. Support for it is rather limited in the pre-release builds of SP2, so that you won't use SP2 RCs on a long-term basis. They'd like you to upgrade to SP2 final, whenever it comes out, as soon as possible - in order to use firewire normally again.

Prolly it is the same case with blue-tooth. I do know it for a fact that Wi-Fi capability and the wizard to setup 802.11b-protocol-based networks were less than full-fledged in all the betas (and Release Candidates) that have come out until now.
