I have Broadband connection through Lan and recently it the connection to the internet stops working how do i fix this? So it stops doing this.

What router do you have?

You need to go into settings and make the idle time to a week in minutes or hours and check dial on demand. This is what is set in my Belkin ADSL router and it works fine.

I discovered that if I made the idle time disconnect in say 5 minutes I was unable to get back to the net without manually connecting to the router and then tell it to connect to the internet.

Don't know if this is the approved way but it worked for me!!

How long does it time out for? Where are you? Home or work?

Is there a firewall? What type of hardware are you using?

Cable? DSL?

What is Router?

I'm using the computer at home.

I use cable broadband.

I use windows Xp's firewall.

If you dont know what one is then I doubt you have one!

Is it NTL? if so I would suggest that you uninstall ALL of their software, and reinstall it. I have come across this before and had to do that to get it working, you should use BT.....

I use Telewest Blueyonder.

Then you should contact your isp to make sure there are no line problems or any problems with your supplied hardware.

Same company ---- Just uninstall everything, drivers, software. Follow their instructions for reinstalling it and see how it goes, it might also be a good idea to check that there is no problem with the line..... will cost you £1 a minute or similar..... robbers!
