optical mouse LED modification

Anyone ever done an LED replacement on an optical mouse? I think a blue LED would look pretty good in my mouse:

But I don't know if the blue LED would affect tracking.

Anyone seen this done or have a link?

I'd probably add a small power toggle switch to it as well.

its not an LED, its an Laser diode, i think.

you can put a blue light in there though as well, someone posted in hardware a mouse mod, it had someone putting a lego figure in your mouse, they also added a blue LED.

you could try it, after all you will find it works or doesent then have to put the red one back in.
