does anyone recommend any good video joiners to join mpeg files? so far i've tried 2 shareware apps and they just lock up on me when i add the files in the application.

Have you tried TMPGEnc yet?

I just used this on two files over 2GB in size and it worked perfectly. Easy to use also.
