I got a windows msg with topic of "Messenger Service" saying: "Message from BILLGATES to <my ip> <date> <hour>

Software has expired! Please register for a low cost of 666 dollars at www.microsoft.com"

I have a legal copy of windows xp, I don't know why someone with the name BILLGATES send me such of msg.

Any idea? or help?

Thanks.

that would be the best idea...sounds like sum1 having a little fun with ya...heh..666

it's no trojan. somebody is just having a little fun with you. do this...

open a command prompt (start->run->command)

type "net send <ip> <message>" (without the quotes) you'll see the box pop up.

the Bill Gates part is just his computer's name.

try sending it to yourself and you'll see what i'm talking about.

hahaha what a mad trick! :)

Im just wondering, how come it doesn't send to others?

Do they need to have MSN installed or be on XP?

Works when i send to myself, but not others.

its exactly what sed said..

he sometimes sends me those messages to get on msn, lol :)

you can send to other people, but they have to be on an NT based operating system, with no firewall !

id suggest you download kerio from http://www.kerio.com its free for home users
