2nd attempt at Acer Scannner Info

Recommended Posts

I posted a previous thread stating that I am having trouble with my Acer 620P scanner...getting it to work with WinXP. When I try to open the Twain driver I get an error "Twain32.dll missing...place in system file from source disk." Does anybody know why it is doing this and how to work around to get it to work. I tried dragging and dropping the twain32.dll file and still nothing. If I can get this solved, I will be able to free up the WinMe partition on my HD as that is all I have to use winme for now. Waste of space!

What version of MiraScan did you install? I think the latest

version for EPP is 3.42. I'm sure you followed the special

install instructions for Win2K?

The problem intrigued me, so I did some poking around XP. I saw

that the error message you received was twain32.dll?? I see that

the filename in XP is twain_32.dll. That is also the name used

for MiraScan 3.42. maybe you just forgot the underscore?

Another note is that the only native instance of twain_32.dll is

at the root of Winnt. Try dumping a copy into the System32 folder.

Good luck.

TTT thanks a million...no I have not used special installation instructions for win2K. I'll try that and yes you were right...forgot the underscore. I'll let you know how it goes.

Where do I find these special instructions for Win2K? Tried looking around on Acer's site and within the 3.42 file itself.

Rick,

There is an html readme file in the MiraScan zip file. I'm

not sure if this will help your situation with the .dll prob

though. It sounds to be more for the EPP end of install.

What are the locations of your existing dlls?

Rick,

There should also be an instance under C:Winnt. If this

doesn't work for you, try copying the version included with

the 3.42 package to both locations.

Make sure you rename the XP supplied files first.
