defargging a 2000 exchange datatbase

i am currently in the process of defragging my exchange 2000 database as it just hit 2 gigs. the process is looking real slow and i was just curious if anyone has ever done this after their box hit 2 gig and stopped responding and if they know how long (approx) it takes? my users keep asking how long and at this point i dont know if i should tell them 2 hours or 2 days.... thanks

I don't think it'll take days but the speed is going to depend on how much data is on the drive and how fast the drive is. Whatever the speed it's not going to be fast enough for the users. It's time to learn the thousand yard stare -- most of them go away if you look blank.
