  1. Anyone ever experince this? I am running a win2k server with exchange 2000 server and all of a sudden we can not open items within the public folder we have set up. The error comes up "can not open this item". This only applies to messages or addresses that have notes in the body field. If it is just a reminder with a subject and no body, it opens fine but as soon as you add a body it will not open. I read on an MS site that this is due to the version of GFI Content Security Monitor that I have. It said if you have ver 8 to upgrade to 8.1. I did so, still haven't solved the problem... Any suggestions?
  2. anyone ever experience this? im running 2000 server w/ active directory and exchange 2000. i have a user who went on vacation for 2 weeks so i set up her out of office auto reply. now when an external email account emails her address (external meaning not from within our company or domain), they do not receive the auto reply message. Only when someone from within emails her will the auto reply come up. To test further I set up auto reply on my own email and sure enough, same result...inside gets auto reply, outside does not. any suggestions???
  3. i am currently in the process of defragging my exchange 2000 database as it just hit 2 gigs. the process is looking real slow and i was just curious if anyone has ever done this after their box hit 2 gig and stopped responding and if they know how long (approx) it takes? my users keep asking how long and at this point i dont know if i should tell them 2 hours or 2 days.... thanks
  4. this might be obvious but you never know... aside from giving delegate rights to the users, you still have to give permission to whatever folder you are trying to share. for example if you are trying to share out a particular inbox, you have to go to the properties of that inbox, permissions, and assign rights for whoever will be accessing it. again, this might be way obvious but you didn't mention doing that so i figured i'll throw it out there...
  5. i've experienced the same thing when i set up roaming profiles in a 2000 AD enviornment. honestly, i don't know how to change that or if you can, but why not move the .pst files? i know "my documents" carries over when roaming, as well as any folders set up on the user's desktop. you might have a very large number of users in which case this might be more trouble than it's worth but if not, moving the .pst might be your best bet. ps- in my experience you will probably slowly start to experience more and more roaming profile issues. thats what started happening to me which is why i got rid of them. most admins will tell you they cause more problems than they do good... you be the judge.
  6. i'm not sure i understand what you are asking. which individual process? the processes in task manager should not have to be manually started, they should automatically start up when called upon. if you are referring to services (which i think you might be) then you can go to control panel/administrative tools/ services. In there you can set the start up type of whichever service you want to automatic, manual or disabled. again, i'm not sure if this is what you were looking for but hope it helps!
  7. i too have used snag it. it works good. another one i've used in the past is called printkey. more or less the same...
