SIDS with 2000 Member servers

Hi Guys,

I was wondering if a SID changes with a 2000+ member server, if I change the servers name. Does it remain identical like workstations?

Example

I have a member server, it's named ABC, I have made another server, isn't in the domain, remove the server ABC and rename the new server ABC.

IF i had of just renamed ABC, would it's SID of changed?

As far as i'm aware, all w2k act the same.

But i'm sure the SID Stays the same. If you ghost a machine, then the SID needs to be changed, because renaming the pc has no effect on the SID.

Hi There,

New pc = new sid.

The new name would alter the sid but shall work fine once the clients were adv of the new server.
