What does this error message mean?

i had the same prob but i also tweak xp to run faster ... heres what you need to do to fix your prob

open your registry editor

goto HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\FileSystem

look for NtfsDisable8dot3NameCreation

change the value from 1 to 0

reboot your system =)

now it *should* work

As I had listed 8.3 name creation on the "Before You Begin" section, and it still seems to be ... ignored ... I implemented a spy to check if it was enabled. I find it a tad bit frustrating, and a whole lot time-wasting to answer questions that are so clearly stated on the Web Site. I mean, it's not like the XPCREATE Web Site has all that much to read ...
