llacerda Posted June 6, 2004 Posted June 6, 2004 My computer name got changed then shut down. When I boot it back up it comes to the welcome screen with no users because it doesn't have any set up with the new computer name. I can't get in the system or safe mode. Is there a way to change the computer name through DOS?

Is there a way to change the computer name through DOS?Perhaps there's another possibility:A) boot with windows cd and choose for the repair optionB)1. boot with partition magic and create another partition2. create another partition, WITHOUT overwriting anything3. install windows to this partition4. boot the new windows and copy all your documents etc.
neosapience Posted June 7, 2004 Posted June 7, 2004 Man, I hope you didn't follow Bashrats advice...All you have to do is hit Ctrl+Alt+Del twice at the logon screen. You'll get the old style Win2k logon and can log in as administrator.
