rockslotch
Is there a way to partition (ie add a d:\ drive) withoutusing a 3rd party software, or reinstalling and rebuildingthe machine?Any help would be greatly appreciated.
DiscardME
If you are talking about repartitioning your single physical disk (C:) into 2 logical drives, then you will need a 3rd party app. Repartioning existing logical drives is not natively supported on XP, unless you are extending, spanning or striping two physical disks.EDIT: If you just want to add a d: drive without touching your first physical disk, you can install a second physical disk in your box and use Disk Manager in Computer Management to import it. Pretty simple solution. Many retailers are selling decent size hard drives for 50 to 60 cents a GB.
rockslotch
Thanks for the info. I was trying to take a 40 gig hardrive and make it into a c:\ with 5 gig and a d:\ with 15 gig. Guess I will have to go get a 3rdparty appp. Any good suggestions?
ardnelias
Acronis Partition Expert is a good choice. Or you could try Partition Magic.
