freshy98 Posted May 30, 2004 Posted May 30, 2004 I have a problem with my unattended insstallation using a RAID 0 configuration. When I start the original Windows XP Pro CD I insert the diskette with the RAID controller's drivers and choose the RAID driver. When it starts Windows setup I get the license screen and press F8. Then I can choose what drive I want to use. Here I can select the RAID 0 configuration which is 157000 Megabytes large. After that I can choose to make a partition on which I want to install Windows too. Now, in my unattended txt file I specified that I want to choose the partition my self. So I can add or remove a partition. This works fine, but I am missing the screen before the partitioning screen where I can select the RAID 0 configuration.Instead I see my individual drives though it doesn't really work like two drives. Is there a line I can add to winnt.sif so I can get the other screen too?Btw: I create a new RAID 0 configuration in the RAID controller and then start my unattended installation CD.If any extra info is needed, please ask me and I will try to provide it.
[BM]Crusher Posted May 31, 2004 Posted May 31, 2004 what extra screen? there is no extra screen!i run raid on lots of my computers... all you need is your specific raid drivers integrated into the cd correctly... it will never come up as two drives if you created your raid array correctly and integrate the correct drivers! (as in, integrate the floppy disk drivers so you don't have to press F6)there is no screen before the partitioning screen (well, technically the Press F8 to agree screen is before the partitioning screen)if it shows you a list of your drives, that is it... that is the only screen there is... you should see a 157000 MB drive, and maybe some others if you have other drives... it will never show up as two individual drives if you have raid array created properly and correct drivers...perhaps paste the top portion of your winnt.sif and also explain what raid controller you have and how you integrated the drivers (and which driver)Note: if you didn't integrate a driver, and aren't pressing F6 to supply a driver, no wonder it isn't working properly (normally doing this you won't even see anything in the drives list)
freshy98 Posted June 1, 2004 Author Posted June 1, 2004 Sorry for the late reply. I forgot to check the notification button...I do get the screen when I use original setup CD and drivers disk using F6, but not with my unattended setup CD.It really is a screen before the screen where you make or remove partitions. I can not explain it otherwise.Using my own unattended screen it skips that screen and puts me right in the partitioning screen, thus giving me the two seperate drives. Also, I do see that the RAID drivers are loaded.Btw: I also tried to use the drivers disk with my unattended CD and still it gave me the two seperate drives, therefore I must be missing a option line of some kind...Pasting the top of my winnt.sif I will do tomorrow since internet is out at home for the moment, since the a** I live with did not pay again I am using my onboard SiI 3112 SATA controller on my Abit NF7-S Rev 2 motherboard. The drivers are integrated as shown in another thread on these forums.
ME2U Posted June 1, 2004 Posted June 1, 2004 You probably need to press "Ctrl-S" or "Alt-S" or some key combination to enter Silicon Image SATA BIOS utility to setup the two drive as RAID 0 before you can see a single RAID 0 drive for Windows to install.
freshy98 Posted June 3, 2004 Author Posted June 3, 2004 You probably need to press "Ctrl-S" or "Alt-S" or some key combination to enter Silicon Image SATA BIOS utility to setup the two drive as RAID 0 before you can see a single RAID 0 drive for Windows to install. My drives are of course set up as RAID 0 before starting the installation.
freshy98 Posted June 3, 2004 Author Posted June 3, 2004 I solved my problem by pulling out the si3112 from txtsetup.sif(?) so it will only load the si3112r driver. Then I am able to use the full 157000MB drive instead of it showing 2*82.3GB.Now to solve some aplication related problems like ati drivers/control panel and nvmixer. both use the same type of setup (using a setup.iss file) but both do absolutly nothing! But that is food for another thread or the search.
