Energy Option

Featured Replies

Hello,

is there any way/tools to allow normal users to set the energy options such as screen time out etc.?

At the moment, it's only possible if they are member of the admin- or main-user group.

You might be able to do that just by changing the registry permissions on the powercfg key in the registry. There's also powercfg.exe from the server 2003 reskit that might allow you to do this. Look into security templates that might lower permissions enough to allow users to change their power options. Screensaver timeout is a registry key in HKCU\Desktop i believe. You could play with the permissions of that registry key.

You could set all the users as local admins...

But you will need to set them up on each pc -

Go into "Local Users and computers",

select "Groups",

double click "Administrators",

then "Add...",

in the "Look In" box select your domain,

then find in the bottom box "Domain Users" and "OK".

When the local user logs on, they will then have access to the control panel functions.

Hope this helps... :)
