Hi, I recently formatted my hardisk into 3 partitions. I clean installed Windows 2000 in C:, then on D:, I restored my Windows XP with ghost image. After restoring, I couldn't boot my Windows XP Pro. How do I fix the problem?

I tried to fix my boot.ini, but I couln't get it work.

Thanks in advance.

my boot.ini

[boot loader]timeout=5

default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT

[operating systems]

multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT="Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional" /fastdetect

multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect

I'm not sure, but if you had XP on C: then restored it to D:, then you just messed things up. I think Ghost partitions are supposed to be put back in the same sized partition.

If you did everything correctly, then try booting off of a Windows XP CD and entering the recovery console. Type "bootcfg /rebuild" and it will hopefully detect the correct settings to allow you to load Windows XP. Also try "bootfix D:" to try to repair the booting of the partition.

Good luck. :)
