Cixert Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 (edited) I'm looking for a color laser printer with a scanner and an automatic feed tray, with drivers compatible with Windows XP at least. Which one do you recommend, new or second-hand? In 2020 I was looking for laser printers in general compatible with Windows 2000/XP and wrote this post: https://msfn.org/board/topic/181283-printers-that-work-with-windows-2000/?do=findComment&comment=1183761 I saw that there were several brands with some new printers with drivers still compatible with Windows XP, such as Canon and Xerox. A curious case is Epson, with old models for sale compatible with Windows 2000 and very expensive. For a while Epson seemed to have no new laser models for sale, now in 2024 I only see a monochrome model and it has drivers for Windows 2000. There are many second-hand models with Windows XP compatible drivers, but I also want it to have an auto-feed scanner. Has anything changed since 2020? If I buy an HP printer without official Windows XP compatible drivers, is it possible to install it on XP with universal drivers? For example, I am looking at the HP COLOR LASER JET PRO M454dn. (sorry, it is not possible to share the HP link for all countries) Then there is the question of how chips like HP's "Security Dynamic" influence this. Is it currently possible to use universal toner cartridges or do they have to be manufactured by the brand? Edited November 11, 2024 by Cixert
