kin003 Posted August 1, 2024 Posted August 1, 2024 (edited) Photo above showed my old asus eeepc netbook that i bought in 2008 that was originally came installed with xandros, but was upgraded to windows xp afterwards like many netbooks did at the time, because xp was low resource and could run on low spec, was also very functional despite xp being from 2001 I remember reading about how bill gates was giving out free winXP license to manufacturers so that was why all netbooks ditch xandros. Was bill really giving out xp to oem like this? This thing also only pkays games in full screen when plugged to a monitor, the screen is too small so alot of games have problems with it. The netbook does not power on anymore, the power supply is broken and i dont know where to find a new third party one, but oh well. Oh there was a netbook craze back then, everyone in college at the time had one Edited August 1, 2024 by kin003

tekkaman Posted August 5, 2024 Posted August 5, 2024 (edited) The AC adapter should be easy to find on ebay. My father had one of the newer ones that came with Windows 7. But as soon as the internet ditched Flash for html5 browsing the web with it was slow and it would get really hot. I put an SSD and installed Q4os on it with the skin that looked just like XP. With that Linux distro the sytem was actually very responsive and it was usable. It can be found here in case anyone is interested: https://xpq4.sourceforge.io/ It's not a perfect OS any means. It would work perfect for that laptop but for my desktop it wasn't so great. Just try it and see if it's compatible with your hardware. I think if it worked on my fathers laptop it would work with any netbook since they all had the same specs. Edited August 5, 2024 by tekkaman
