Error starting Office 2007 on Windows XP SP1

When I install Office 2007 on Windows XP SP1 and run Word, I get this error. Any workaround?

It seems it requires Service Pack 2 to run. You can read the requirements here:

I don't think you can bypass it. There were many changes between SP1 and SP2. Maybe you should try office 2003 instead and install the compatibility pack so you can at least read and edit .docx files in 2003.
