amigafan Posted April 24, 2004 Posted April 24, 2004 Does anyone know how to set no paging file by default. My installs are always on machines with 512MB of RAM or more and I never have any need of virtual memory. I've searched through the forums but have not been able to find an answer to this. Thanks in advance,AmigaFan.
aknott Posted April 24, 2004 Posted April 24, 2004 hi amigafan,be carful with paging file,I have 1024Mb RAM and some apps crash w/o paging file soI think it's not a good idea to do not use paging file (some games like C&C Generals)however you can find the paging file parameters in the following key (if u don't know it)[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management]
amigafan Posted April 25, 2004 Author Posted April 25, 2004 Which values need to be changed and what parameters should they have?
aknott Posted April 25, 2004 Posted April 25, 2004 I don't know really which one but u can do that :save the keymake a modif within the standard method (computer properties)change only the pagefile settingsrebootgoto registrysave the key againand compare the two files You'll see a differenceI think however the good one is the pagingfile REG_MULTI_SZ parameterbut I don't know what to put in manually (never tested this)try in VMware or vortual PC and you'll see
