Thinkpad4 Posted January 25, 2018 Posted January 25, 2018 Hi, I recently ran a chkdsk on my D: drive and it asked me to unmount it. Later when I checked on it, it was still checking and I noticed all the shortcuts on the desktop that linked to the D: Drive were gone. I stopped the chkdsk and thought they would return when the drive remounted, but they didn't. I had to perform a system restore to get them back. My question is can I run chkdsk /f /r on my D: Drive from safe mode with command prompt and not have to unmount the D: Drive or worry about shortcuts going missing. Thank you very much
HarryTri Posted January 27, 2018 Posted January 27, 2018 The shortcuts doesn't normally disappear when you unmount a volume, except if it is a bug of Windows 7 which I don't have. That's all I can say.
