Roffen
I run IE in order to check that XP updates keeps coming. But IE tells me that 1. Your browser is out-of-date You need to update your browser to use the site. Update to the latest version of Internet Explorer So I install 2. Update for Internet Explorer 8 for Windows XP (KB976749) This update addresses issues discussed in Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 976749. For more information see the Overview section of this page. 3. But problem remains. Any possible cure?
sdfox7
If you have Update Agent 3.0, Internet Explorer 8, and Background Intelligent Transfer Service 2.0 (BITS 2.0), you should have no issues accessing Windows Update. Update Agent 3.0: http://download.windowsupdate.com/WindowsUpdate/redist/standalone/7.4.7600.226/WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86.exe (archived link: https://web.archive.org/web/20110616080618/http://download.windowsupdate.com/WindowsUpdate/redist/standalone/7.4.7600.226/WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86.exe) Internet Explorer 8: http://download.microsoft.com/download/C/C/0/CC0BD555-33DD-411E-936B-73AC6F95AE11/IE8-WindowsXP-x86-ENU.exe (archived link: https://web.archive.org/web/20130510043925/http://download.microsoft.com/download/C/C/0/CC0BD555-33DD-411E-936B-73AC6F95AE11/IE8-WindowsXP-x86-ENU.exe) Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS 2.0): original link dead, only archived one works:https://web.archive.org/web/20120828024732/http://download.microsoft.com/download/e/1/0/e1006a40-2447-48a1-804b-980995f27d51/WindowsXP-KB842773-v2-x86-enu.exe Please try installing the above updates, and then using the v6 of Windows Update. The "Windows Update" in Internet Explorer's Tools > Windows Update menu no longer works! You must use the legacy v6 site: http://update.microsoft.com/windowsupdate/v6/default.aspx?ln=en-us
