JamesLO Posted April 8, 2004 Posted April 8, 2004 Hello everyone I have been looking through the forums to see if there is a remedy to my problem but have found no results. I have XP Home Edition on my laptop and this problem just occured yester day.The first problem started when I rann system restore to a month prior because when I ran programs from either the desktop or the start menu, my screen went blank except for the background, and it slowly refeshed the screen with the task bar, icons, ect. But it would not load the program. Now that i did that each time I try to load a program Windows Installer pops up asking me to insert a disk (Microsoft Money). I cancell out of it three times, then it will run the program.I was hope one of you computer savy people could tell me how to make this stop. Thanks James
Joe User 99 Posted April 13, 2004 Posted April 13, 2004 This is the Microsoft Installer attempting to repair a broken install (or what it's logs show as broken). It is most likely just some missing registry entries.Just point it to the MSI file that it is looking for, and it should fix itself and go away.
LiquidSage Posted April 13, 2004 Posted April 13, 2004 if you can't point to the original installer file for whatever reason, go to ms's website and d/l msicuu and msizap. This will let you delete all entries releated to your problematic msi installer with one simple click.
