BAM Posted April 8, 2004 Posted April 8, 2004 Hi u all,I'm having some trouble with my new MX700 mouse under autocad.I didn't knew or expected this kind of behavior, but i found out it doesn't scroll when u use it within autocad!!?? I looked al over the inet and didn't find a solution. At logitech they know about the problem, but those solutions aren't working in any way.It works perfect under every other program but not in the **** autocad.I did try latest drivers and tools they provided, no luck with that.So please help me out here, because i reallly like the new mouse and have to use it for almost all day in autocad.Thnx in advance.
BAM Posted April 9, 2004 Author Posted April 9, 2004 Come on guys,There must be someone who had the same problems with CAD/CAM software and the mx700....??
TeeDeck Posted April 9, 2004 Posted April 9, 2004 Exactly what are you trying to do? Scroll with the wheel...or the scroll buttons above and below the wheel?Scrolling with the wheel will allow you to zoom in and out and pressing on the wheel will allow you to pan.You may want to check the 'mbuttonpan' (typed at the command prompt) system variable. Disabled = 0 and Enabled = 1.Enabled will allow you to zoom in and out and pan when the wheel is depressed.I won't be home for a while (got to go out) but I will check later to see if you've solved your problem.
BAM Posted April 9, 2004 Author Posted April 9, 2004 Thnx for ure reply TeeDeck,I just want to scroll up and down in my drawings with my wheel (and if possible with the two buttons under and above it)I use the other zoom functions from my toolbars. so no zoom in/out or pan.It seems to be a problem everywhere when people buy the F#*$ mx700 and use it with autocad. They said its solved with the latest drivers and provide even a little tool at logitech. But my wheel seems to be dead only when used in Acad.I really need some big time help with it!
TeeDeck Posted April 10, 2004 Posted April 10, 2004 Have you checked in the mouse settings (in the control panel) where you set the functions for the those two buttons? If not, I'll be at work tomorrow and I'll check my system out. I use the MX700 at work without a hitch but I probably use different settings than you. I'll see if I can set it to scroll like you want and I'll let ya know what I come up with.
BAM Posted April 10, 2004 Author Posted April 10, 2004 Have done that and did a lot more...I'm already happy if the wheel works.Making drawings and scrolling with the scrollbar is not a nice thing to do.Hope u have a solution for me. I will be very, very happy with it.edit:Tell me,Which driver version are u using and what pointer is specified under the preferences?
TeeDeck Posted April 11, 2004 Posted April 11, 2004 BAM,I'm sorry but I have not been able to set any buttons with the MX700 to the scroll function in CAD. I'm using CAD 2002 btw and using driver version 9.76. Haven't checked if there is a new one out.I'm still a bit confused. Do you have the wheel button ie: pressing down on the wheel, set for anything?Scrolling up and down or left and right with the scroll bars is bit outdated, isn't? I mean having the scroll bars showing, aren't you losing window real estate? I'm using a 21" monitor at home and work and I'm still searching for ways to 'unclutter' my screen so I have a larger working area. I've created pull down menus just to remove some toolbars and utilize LISP to shorten functions. By pressing the wheel, i'm able to pan and scrolling the wheel allows me to zoom in and out and I find that doing it this way, I'm able to navigate a drawing alot faster than using scroll bars. Actually, I haven't used scroll bars in CAD for many years and don't know of anyone who does.Sorry that I couldn't help you more.
BAM Posted April 11, 2004 Author Posted April 11, 2004 Hi TeeDeck,I'm sorry too... I use at work Acad r14 , (money thing) but all the later on versions i already know that it didn't work. Let me explain a bit more what i want: When u are browsing in an browser like this page, u want to navigate from the top down to the bottom of the page. Like when u have a very large drawing or an exel sheet. Thats all i want from my wheel to do for me wen i ROLL with it. But this seems to be impossible with the **** mx700 and cad/cam. Those dummies at logitech can't make it work, even with an advanced mouse like this one. All the other mouses the ever made are operating with this simple funtion.I'm using the latest drivers version 9.79.As for all the other functions i use them like u do (did): no scrollbars and so on.Untill i bought me this mouse... (going crazy over here by now)I also have an 21 inch monitor, which i bought me at home because i had a desillusion when i came home and saw my 17 inch thingy. Thanks a lot for ure help, i understand that it didn't work for u as well.Have one on me! If there is anybody out there in this universe where it works: HELP ME WITH MY MX700 SIMPLE SCROLLWHEEL IN AUTOCAD PLEASE !!
