ppgrainbow Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 (edited) Okay, it's been nearly two days since I did a clean installation of Windows Vista Ultimate (x64 version), I installed most of the updates from the Windows Update applet. But, I ran into problems trying to install the remaining 15 updates listed below:1. Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 SP2 on Windows Vista SP2 and Windows Server 2008 SP2 for x64 (KB2729453)2. Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 SP2 on Windows Vista SP2 and Windows Server 2008 SP2 for x64 (KB2742601)3. Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 SP2 on Windows Vista SP2 and Windows Server 2008 SP2 for x64 (KB2789646)4. Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 SP2 on Windows Vista SP2 and Windows Server 2008 SP2 for x64 (KB2844287)5. Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 SP2 on Windows Vista SP2 and Windows Server 2008 SP2 for x64 (KB2863253)6. Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 SP2 on Windows Vista SP2 and Windows Server 2008 SP2 for x64 (KB2898858)7. Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 SP2 on Windows Vista SP2 and Windows Server 2008 SP2 for x64 (KB2901113)8. Security Update for Windows Vista for x64-based Systems (KB2378111)9. Security Update for Windows Vista for x64-based Systems (KB2813430)10. Security Update for Windows Vista for x64-based Systems (KB2862966)11. Security Update for Windows Vista for x64-based Systems (KB2868626)12. Security Update for Windows Vista for x64-based Systems (KB967723)13. Update for Windows Vista for x64-based Systems (KB2808679)14. Update for Windows Vista for x64-based Systems (KB2863058)15. Update for Windows Vista for x64-based Systems (KB972145)I get a error code 80070490: Windows Update encountered an unknown error. However, this eventually means that the CBS Manifest file that is needed to install updates is corrupt.I've noticed that some users even receive the 80070490 error code when trying to reinstall/repair Windows or perform a factory reset. As I may have to manually download the files listed above and determine if it will work correctly on this machine or not, iIs there a way to get around this error?Update: To get around this, I had to manually download each of the files individually to get around the 80070490 error. The error may re-appear when Microsoft issues the next round of updates on Patch Tuesday in more than a week from today. Edited March 3, 2014 by ppgrainbow

The CBS.log file has grown to 46.5 MB since I updated my computer. I will have to do a SFC /SCANNOW routine in a elevated command prompt to know what could be causing it.With that said, I will have to delete the CBS.log file. When the SFC /SCANNOW procedure is done, the log will be recreated. I'll post the results when I'm finished.Update: I ran SFC /SCANNOW and here's the message that I received:Beginning system scan. This process will take some time.Beginning verification phase of system scan.Verification 100% complete.Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repairedthem. Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. Forexample C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.logI have tried to upload the CBS.log file here, but I got a error that the file was too big to upload. The CBS.log file quickly grown to at least 885 KB and I can only upload up to 500 KB of files.Sorry about that. I wished that I gotten around this somehow. Edited March 3, 2014 by ppgrainbow

MagicAndre1981 Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 I can't download the file. Use mediafire.com and not this crappy thing.
