sven
RIAA Site Offline, MyDoom.F Suspected March 18, 2004 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- According to a report by research and analysis firm Netcraft (netcraft.com), the Web site for the Recording Industry Association of America (riaa.com) has been down for more than a day, following several days of periodic outages. The site going offline appears to be the result of a denial of service (DoS) attack. In late February, a variant of the MyDoom virus (MyDoom.F) began spreading nearly a month after MyDoom first appeared. The virus was programmed to launch a denial of service (DoS) attack against the Web sites of Microsoft and the RIAA. Netcraft cited numbers published by anti-virus vendors that estimate MyDoom.F to have infected approximately 45,000 machines. According to reports, Microsoft's Web site has not experienced any difficulties. At press time, the RIAA site remained offline. The RIAA is heavily involved in efforts to combat online music piracy.sourcecheck for yourself, sites down
