craigcsb Posted March 17, 2004 Posted March 17, 2004 Hi,Today i installed windows xp pro on a new hard drive for my toshiba satellite laptop, the old harddrive went so i got a new one. Now when i go to Network Connections then Create a new connection it doesnt give me the option to use a dial up modem, only a broadband one when i try to manually set a connection. "Connect Using a dial up modem" is grayed out. Can anyone suggest why this may be and how i can fix it?In device manager it says that the device is working well. The modem is using port COM3 which used to work fine on my old hard disk. I couldnt work out how to tell if COM3 is enabled because in device manager under Ports(Com & Lpt) all that is there is Printer Port (LPT1).I dont know whats wrong or what to do, can anyone suggest anything?ThanksCraig
craigcsb Posted March 17, 2004 Author Posted March 17, 2004 Thanks, i tried restarting telephony services but it didnt solve the problem, i cant start Remote Access Connection Manager either, i get an "Access Denied" Error. I didnt mention in my post that i also installed SP1, could that be the problem?
