Hi,

Today i installed windows xp pro on a new hard drive for my toshiba satellite laptop, the old harddrive went so i got a new one. Now when i go to Network Connections then Create a new connection it doesnt give me the option to use a dial up modem, only a broadband one when i try to manually set a connection. "Connect Using a dial up modem" is grayed out. Can anyone suggest why this may be and how i can fix it?

In device manager it says that the device is working well. The modem is using port COM3 which used to work fine on my old hard disk. I couldnt work out how to tell if COM3 is enabled because in device manager under Ports(Com & Lpt) all that is there is Printer Port (LPT1).

I dont know whats wrong or what to do, can anyone suggest anything?

Thanks

Craig

Thanks, i tried restarting telephony services but it didnt solve the problem, i cant start Remote Access Connection Manager either, i get an "Access Denied" Error. I didnt mention in my post that i also installed SP1, could that be the problem?
