odopey Posted March 15, 2004 Posted March 15, 2004 Hey There,I've followed the XPCD "unattended.msfn.org" site and created the following,[Version] Signature="$Windows NT$"MajorVersion=5MinorVersion=1BuildNumber=2195[setupData]CatalogSubDir="\i386\Update"[setupHotfixesToRun]js56nen.exe /QKB811114.exe /Q /O /N /ZKB823182.exe /Q /O /N /ZKB824105.exe /Q /O /N /ZKB824141.exe /Q /O /N /ZKB824146.exe /Q /O /N /ZKB825119.exe /Q /O /N /ZKB828026.exe /quiet /O /N /norestartKB828035.exe /Q /O /N /Zqchain.exeBut it doesn't run.. Now question I have is do I need to have the correct "VERSION" information?..Any ideas?
m4dh0 Posted March 15, 2004 Posted March 15, 2004 yes it should be[Version] Signature="$Windows NT$"MajorVersion=5MinorVersion=0BuildNumber=2195
X-Ecutioner Posted March 15, 2004 Posted March 15, 2004 there is also a svcpack.ini_ which is a compressed version of svcpack.inf. Make sure you replace that one too. That is, if its there.
Aaron Posted March 15, 2004 Posted March 15, 2004 It won't work for Windows 2000 like that, nor does Windows Server 2003. It happened to be luck that it worked very well for XP without specifying any cat files, and no instabilities whatsoever. For 2000/2003 you may need to make use of the cat files, by extracting them out of the hotfixes and specifying them in the svcpack.inf file. If that doesn't work, then using a batch file to install hotfixes on first logon with the /O switch should do the job fine.
