Want to upgrade Windows Live Movie Maker 2011 to 2012 in Win7

I Hope I'm on the correct forum for my question. If not, my apologies.

I currently have Windows 7 Home Premium, which came with Windows Live Movie Maker 2011. The default export format is .wmv

I read that the default export format for Windows Live Movie Maker 2012, is .mp4, which I would prefer.

I don't see any way to "upgrade" directly from 2011 to 2012, but I did find the MS download site for WLMM 2012 at: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/get-movie-maker-download

My question is this: Can I just download and install WLMM 2012 over 2011, or must I uninstall 2011 first?

Thanks very much...

It looks like it will replace the existing one. Also I find that you also need to have the photo viewer program installed as well since they share components. There is a package called Windows Essentials 2012 that apparently has everything included, but installing that will remove Windows Live Mesh. So if you use Mesh then take that into consideration.

Thank you so much. I didn't realize this. Think I'll stay with Windows Live Mesh for now. I suppose I can always convert to .mp4 if needed.

One last thing Tripredacus, I didn't receive an email when you replied to my post. I just decided to log on for kicks, and here you are. I checked my notification settings, and they seem to be OK. I always received emails from this forum in the past. Have you heard anything from other members?

Thanks for all the info... Mitch
