MagicAndre1981
I've bought a tool called AveUxThemePatcher some years ago and this works fine. It doesn't patch files on the disk.
vinifera
yes it works "on the fly", just like UxStyle, just memory-patch-in
MagicAndre1981
yes, but uxstyle doesn't work for me. And this tool also works for Windows 8:http://carborunda.deviantart.com/art/Snowy-v2-0-Final-for-Windows-8-358919115
vinifera
must be one of those ghost mystery's and after XP I never trust Windows OS that muchas in beginning after installed win7/sp1 I patched uxtheme with patcher and all was working, then like 8 days later everything brokeall skins went back to classic as if uxtheme was reverted to original by some system restore (even if I have it disabled)then I checked and patched files were still patched (and not reverted to original)so who's crazy here ? MagicAndre1981
but patching files is dangerous. Last patchday a lot of users got a blackscreeen because of their patched uxtheme files.
vinifera
meh, I always make backup, just fire up ERD commander and its back although I would like in-memory-patcher as well, hence why I wanted uxstyle to installbut unless Rafael answers my email, I'll be stuck with "hard" patched file
351837
I use Universal Theme Patcher from deepxw since XP and never have any issues with it. On his site it doesn't say, but it works with SP1 also.
vinifera
that one was exactly one that didn't work for me (among some others)
