tal ormanda Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 it is extremely slow. 1 CPU core is hogging the CPU alls the time and it uses 180MB RAM all the time:scrolling through the Explorer is nearly impossible, because of Defender. I've removed the crap with this tool:I have a terrible computer, and mine is nothing like yours.
MagicAndre1981 Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 (edited) Defender has one of the best performance of all testes antivirus-tools, but detection-rate is really bad. No impact? each icon in explorer opens with a 2 sec delay. No impact? Good to see that your test shows that my NOD32 is better in performance. Be happy with your your crappy MSE/Defender and is terrible detection rate Edited November 5, 2012 by MagicAndre1981
geneticplasma Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 each icon in explorer opens with a 2 sec delay.Maybe you should upgrade your Pentium II to a Pentium 4 CPU
xpclient Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 If you are a very smart geek, you can turn off Defender. Defender IS slow, especially the one in Windows 8 because it's MSE now (same engine, doesn't matter). But it does slow down. If you must use an AV, use a free one like Avast that's light on resources.
