notta
Hi, does anyone know how to disable notifications in the Action Center about the Windows Firewall remotely? We rolled out a batch of Windows 7 machines a little earlier than we should have and users are getting notifications about the firewall being disabled. In our network we use a 3rd party Firewall and we always disable the Windows Firewall. I don't want to get into a debate about this, it's just the way our company does it. Anyway, if the users enable the firewall I'm usually blocked from administering them. I don't want to disable the action center all together, just the notifications about the firewall. Does anyone know how to disable it remotely, preferably from the registry. Thanks guys.
allen2
Hum, it seems even MS can't do it: http://blogs.technet.com/b/networking/archive/2010/12/16/disabling-firewall-alerts-in-the-action-center.aspx.
Tripredacus
Using the method to remove Action Center icon does not disable it.
cluberti
Note that in an enterprise environment, Microsoft actually recommends disabling of the action center via group policy.
