TmEE
Last month I got myself 120/10M connection and none of my PCs never got speeds above 30...40MBit, including few XP machines I have over. It did not matter if I used 100 or 1000Mbit LAN cards (though one XP machine got about 60MBit momentairly with a realtek crap, but not with a good Intel NIC).So today I had birthday (I'm 22 woot) and my mom brought her laptop with her to get some maintenance, and it had a 1Gbit NIC and bualbooted XP and Win7, so I did some tests and Win7 nicely hit 120MBit without any problems, but XP slugged at 30...40MBit range. So seems my problem is entirely software related... XP and 98SE seem to perform equally in my case, 98SE maybe a bit slower. Normal networking is pretty fast, no complaints on that part. What kind of things can be done to improve TCP/IP performance ?
