Hi all,

My system have:

1 Domain Controller Windows 2003 R2 Ent.

1 Member Server Windows 2003 R2 Standard with Exchange 2003 SP2 on it.

1 Member Server Windows 2003 R2 Ent as File Server.

I have new server running Windows 2008 R2 Ent. I will perform the following

Raise Domain Functional Level

Prepare my current Windows 2003 Active Directory for Windows Server 2008 domain controllers.

Then, I setup the new server as an additional domain controller.

Transfer FSMO roles to the Windows Server 2008 Domain Controller

All it okay.

Now I want to demoting old w2k3 domain controller. But I very very worry when I do it, my exchange and file server cannot running stable.

Pls, give me some advice.

Thx so much.

When you demote your old DC, will the system be taken out of service? If not, after you transfer the roles and forest over, you could just use that system as another file server or somethng else without demoting it.
