kncxv Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 I'm using Vista Home Basic 32bitWhen I try to move a folder I created or the files in it which I also created I receive the following:You need permission to perform this action.I am the administrator on this machine no one uses it but me. I can't move it or delete it or change it in any way without getting the above message. The file I'm working with is on my external drive. I have never come across a problem like this. Can anyone help me please?Thank you
Guest Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 Can you post a screenshot as shown below of the permission tab on both the folder and the drive that it's on? Also, to where are you trying to move things to?
Tripredacus Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 There are a couple of reasons, one if the ownership like -X- suggests. Another annoying thing is that the protected file locations (windows\system32, program files, etc) even on other volumes will become protected.
