shenberry Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 We have about 20 computers IBMs Thinkpad mostly and a couple of HPs Media Center that were on the Pentium 4I am tired of kids have no clue what they do but in a week a different computer cannot boot the OS.NTLDR BSOD Cant find boot etc.I would like to implement a way where all the computers have the same software coming from one central locationchildren can use there own unique login where they will have timed usage; so after an hour they will get kicked off for daily useThey cannot for the love of god install are save anything on the hard drives, and god for bid if they need to save something it will be delete when the computer shut down never to be scene are heard off again. As well what is a monitoring program that can be used to view of shut down computer for disobedient children. Thanks
allen2 Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 The easier way to fulfill efficiently some of your points is deepfreeze but it is not free. The other way would be to create a master with gpos and security enabled to allow only permitted process and write somewhere that would be automatically deleted after reboot.
Tripredacus Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 There are many ways to do this, but they usually have a lot of work involved. The domain set up that Allen says will work, but there are other options.XP Embedded (maybe even 7 embedded) has a feature similar to DeepFreeze called Ram Overlay. It is a function of the OS and not a separate program. Another thing possible to consider is setting the PCs up as Thin Clients, or using something like Microsoft VDI.
